lifeSaver Ambulances
The lifeSaver ambulance is the newest technology from Fairfax. It combines our world-leading framesless and jointless bodies, with the complexities of needs of an Ambulance Service
Fairfax fully-moulded GRP Ambulance bodies have set the standard for
the NZ emergency vehicles for over 25years. The unique moulded
construction provides a clean, safe, hygienic environment for patient
and operator.
The body is designed to suit a range of different chassis, with
customised interior layouts available to suit most applications.
Body design incorporates the benefits of fully
demountable body from chassis. Bodies can be easily transferred to
new chassis when required.
FUNCTIONAL ADVANTAGES
- Lightweight (therefore higher payload)
- Glossy 1-piece interior
- Cannot leak heat or moisture - has
no joints, bolts or rivets to leak, or metal to conduct
heat.
- No metal in body to fracture, twist
or fail.
- Composite structure is a ‘single
membrane’. Conventional alum/insulation/liner have differing
expansion co-efficients and allow sweating, leaking and pest
infestation.
- Easy to repair composite
construction.
- Lowest cost of ownership proven
in the long-term.
-
Longevity : our ambulances are in daily use
> 20 years.

Refurbs and Repairs |
Fairfax bodies only need major refurbishment if routine maintenance is not done (for whatever reason) or through accidental damage.
However, the cost of a large refurbishment can be lower than a new vehicle, and will dramatically extend its life.

Innovation |
Innovation is part of our culture, and extensive changes to details are constantly being made:
| IMPROVEMENT |
DATE FIRST IMPLEMENTED
| » Epoxy
paint undercoating on sub-frame steelwork |
2006
| » Polished coaming rail infill to improve the look of the vehicle |
2006
| |
» Non-slip
glass spheres in the epoxy floor laminate, which is far more robust than the previous garnet
2007
| » Multi-layer ultra-thin scuff
bands, which are very high impact and gouge resistant. |
2007
| |
| » iceBlock divider for multi-temp bodies |
2008 |
| » Altered glass type and layup in the body structure, allowing less print through, weight reduction and improved body stiffness |
2008
| » Redesigned
steel front end and dolly, which has overcome almost all cracking issues |
2008 |
| » Non-leak easy-to-operate effluent
valves for stockTake bodies |
2008 |
| |
» New glass fabric type in the epoxy floor, creating a more even and robust laminate
2009 |
| » Light
weight core on all doors, removing about 20kg on a typical door panel.
This hugely reduces stress on hinges, and has no ply to rot out. |
2009 |
| » Steel
beam under side door when it is placed far forward, which significantly
reduces side wall cracking when the vehicle is overloaded |
2009 |
» Stiffer and branded landing leg
2009 |
| » New
floor ply layout with new fibre type, improving the support at the joints by 50% |
